Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. is an independent law firm that's practiced in downtown Ottawa since opening its doors on January 1, 1971. It started as Perley-Robertson, Panet, Hill & McDougall, working out of the Plaza Building on Sparks Street with room for eight lawyers, after a 1970 soft launch led by founder Tom McDougall. It dropped Panet from its name after founder de Lobe Panet was appointed a Justice of the Superior Court of Ontario. The firm spent two decades in the former Met Life Building on Bank Street, still home to the Rideau Club, before settling into its current Albert Street offices in 2007.

The firm has grown from eight lawyers to more than 50, supported by about 60 administrative professionals, and now covers business and corporate law, litigation, commercial real estate, employment and labour law, family law, immigration, intellectual property, insolvency and personal legal needs such as wills and estate planning. It also runs an international arbitration group handling international contracts, treaties and arbitration related court proceedings, with a level of experience and knowledge the firm describes as rare in Canada and competitive globally. The firm has been named a National Capital Region Top Employer for 13 consecutive years, and several of its lawyers are recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
