Mills & Mills LLP is a full service law firm in Toronto, now based at 2 St. Clair Avenue West in the Yonge and St. Clair area of midtown. George Gordon Mills opened the original office in 1884 at Church and Front Street in downtown Toronto, and George's brother Alexander Mills joined the practice in 1889 after two years as Deputy Attorney General of Manitoba. The firm says it is now in its fifth generation of Mills family involvement, which it describes as the longest continuous family tradition at a Canadian law firm. Today it practices business law, employment law, family law, health law, litigation and dispute resolution, real estate law, tax law, wills, estates and trusts, and entertainment and media law.
One notable specialty is the health law group, which advises physicians, dentists and other regulated health professionals, hospitals, long term care homes, and health related non profits on the business and regulatory side of health care, including governance, professional discipline matters, and privacy. Mills & Mills is also the exclusive Ontario provider law firm for LegalShield legal services plans, giving members ongoing access to legal advice for personal and business matters. Firm alumni over its history have gone on to public roles including Deputy Attorney General of Manitoba, Premier of Ontario, and Attorney General of Ontario.
