About David
David Mills is the managing partner at Mills & Mills LLP and represents the fourth generation of his family to practice there since the firm's founding in 1884. His work centers on estate planning, administration, and litigation, helping clients build plans that range from straightforward wills and powers of attorney to more complex tools like multiple wills and family trusts. When disputes arise, he guides clients through a cost-effective resolution process, drawing on the firm's litigation team when court action becomes necessary. David often serves as an estate trustee, including as a court-appointed trustee during litigation, and also mediates estate disputes. Earlier in his career he built a business law practice advising private companies on structuring, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions. He was called to the bar in 2000, holds a J.D. from the University of Toronto and a B.A. from McGill University, and has taught Wills and Estates at the University of Toronto's law school since 2022.
