The firm's roots go back to 1982, when Stephen Tierney opened a law practice in Ottawa. Frank Tierney joined in 1983 and Dana Tierney followed in 1986. Ian Stauffer, a former classmate of Frank's, joined the Tierney brothers in 1989, and the firm took its present name.
