About James
James Leal is Senior Counsel at Tierney Stauffer LLP, called to the bar in 1984 after graduating from Queen's University's Faculty of Law. His practice covers commercial leasing, commercial real estate, business law, and wills and estates, acting for both developers and institutional real estate clients, with extensive involvement in real estate-related litigation including expropriation, arbitration, and appraisal disputes. He also acts as counsel for national associations and local not-for-profit organizations. James has lectured for the Law Society of Ontario on business law, real estate law, legal writing, and legal ethics, and has spoken at Algonquin College's continuing education faculty and the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law. He is a past president of the Carleton County Law Association and past co-chair of the Joint Committee on Electronic Registration of Title Documents for the Province of Ontario. James holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto (1979) and an LL.B. from Queen's University (1982), and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
