About Xiaoyu
Xiaoyu (Olivia) Hu joined Tierney Stauffer LLP's civil litigation practice group as an associate in October 2025 and is building her practice with a focus on employment law. She moved back to her hometown of Ottawa after articling and beginning her career at a litigation boutique in downtown Toronto, where she gained experience in labour and employment law, commercial litigation, and class actions, appearing before the Small Claims Court and the Superior Court of Justice. She has also assisted with workplace investigations and culture audits involving allegations of harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Olivia was born in Xi'an, China, and immigrated to Canada at age three; she is conversational in Mandarin. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University (2019) and a J.D. from the University of Ottawa (2022), and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, The Advocates' Society, and Young Women in Law.
