Milestones & recognition

• The firm chose to concentrate exclusively on commercial litigation and restructuring and insolvency work rather than practise more broadly.
• TGF acted for the UK Pension Claimants, the largest single creditor in the worldwide Nortel Networks estate, in a case that produced a pro rata allocation of US$7.3 billion across several jurisdictions.
• The firm acted for PricewaterhouseCoopers as court appointed receiver of Bridging Finance, an alternative lender that had raised about $2 billion from more than 26,000 investors.
• TGF represented the court appointed monitor Ernst & Young in the CCAA restructuring of Stelco and creditors in the cross border restructuring of Air Canada, and it handled the insolvency wind down of about 440 Blockbuster Canada stores.
• Nine TGF partners are listed in the 2026 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and twelve of the firm's lawyers are recognized in Benchmark Litigation Canada's 2026 guide.
• Three TGF partners are recognized in Benchmark Canada's Top 100 Women in Litigation Guide for 2026.

In the community

• TGF lawyers volunteer through Pro Bono Ontario, an organization that connects lawyers with low income Ontarians who need legal help.
• Firm lawyers sit on the boards of Worldwide Orphans Foundation Canada and Canada's Great Kitchen Party Toronto.
• The firm takes part in the Sporting Life 10K in support of Camp Oochigeas, a camp for children affected by childhood cancer, and in the Daily Bread Food Bank's Law Firm Holiday Challenge.
• Since 2015, TGF has designated the Maryse and William Brock Chair, which supports stem cell transplant research, as its chosen charity.
