John T. Porter is an established litigator whose practice centers on oral advocacy in complex corporate and commercial disputes, including shareholder conflicts, corporate fraud, commercial torts, professional negligence claims, and security enforcement and priority matters for financial institutions. He has also served as litigation counsel in numerous insolvency and restructuring proceedings and has appeared at every level of Ontario's courts, before the Federal Court, and at the Supreme Court of Canada. Before joining TGF, where he was a partner and later became Counsel, he was a partner at a large national firm; he is recognized for crafting practical, innovative solutions to difficult legal problems. Porter has spoken at seminars and to law students about the BCE case, and he argued the expedited BCE appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada in a matter tied to what was then the world's largest leveraged buy-out, valued at $52 billion.
