Administrative & Regulatory LawSean Grassie is an associate with a broad litigation practice focused on commercial and estates litigation, media and public law, and appellate advocacy. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and in commercial arbitration proceedings. In 2024, Sean was lead counsel in Hannan v. Scouts Canada, successfully obtaining relief for a volunteer wrongfully terminated by a national non-profit, a case that received wide media coverage. He also represents clients in judicial reviews before the Divisional Court and Federal Court and is a member of the Canadian Media Lawyers Association, acting for national media outlets on issues of court openness and freedom of expression. Before joining Conway, Sean clerked for Justice Suzanne Cote at the Supreme Court of Canada and for three Court of Appeal for Ontario justices, and articled at a national firm in Toronto. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and holds a master's degree from Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs.
