About Naomi Santesteban

Employers turn to Naomi Santesteban for advice on a wide range of labour and employment matters. Naomi is an associate in the Toronto office of Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP, with a keen interest in the construction, education and non-profit sectors.

Naomi finished a JD at Osgoode Hall in 2023 and was called to the Ontario bar the following year. Articling brought a seven-week secondment to the Ontario Labour Relations Board, where the job meant doing legal research and sitting in alongside the Board's mediators, Vice-Chairs and members. Before that, law school included a clinical placement at Parkdale Community Legal Services and a Dean's Fellow role in Public and Constitutional Law and Civil Procedure.

The academic record stands out. At Osgoode's 2023 spring convocation Naomi collected the Matthew Wilson Memorial Prize along with three family law awards, and the exchange program in final year ended with the third-highest standing. As a JD student, Naomi also opened a research event hosted by the Osgoode Hall Law Journal with a paper exploring how Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker Program has created a distinct form of violence for migrant workers that the country's anti-trafficking framework doesn't adequately capture. The writing hasn't stopped since: Naomi co-wrote the Canada chapter of the Chambers guide on HR internal investigations and summarized YRDSB v ETFO, the Supreme Court of Canada's school board Charter ruling, for the OBA's Education Law Section.

Employers can also hear Naomi in the firm's webinars, most recently a September 2025 session on job offers, employment agreements and onboarding. Outside the office, Naomi is likely trying a coffee shop that's new to the list or wandering another corner of Toronto, and stays active with running, cycling, strength training and yoga.
