About Michael
Michael Stitz is a Toronto employment and labour lawyer who founded Stitz Litigation after working at a Bay Street employment law firm. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012 and has since focused his practice on employment law, including wrongful dismissal, severance negotiations, and human rights litigation for employees, employers, and contractors across sectors such as manufacturing, retail, financial services, and technology. Stitz has also developed a niche practice handling disputes over alleged unlawful competition by former employees, including breach of fiduciary duty and restrictive covenant matters. He has appeared as counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Ministry of Labour, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, and the Public Service Grievance Board of Ontario. Stitz has contributed regularly to The Employment Bulletin, has been quoted in Law Times and HRM Online, and has written for the Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Lawyer. He received the CCH Prize for Legal Writing and the Blakes Scholar Award.
