About Adele Zhang

Adele Zhang is an associate at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP who advises employers, public and private alike, on just about any labour or employment issue. On a given day that might be bargaining with a union, a human rights complaint, a question about safety on the job, an employment contract or an internal investigation, and the clients come from many different industries. The advice is meant to be practical and fitted to what each employer actually needs.

Adele's ties to Filion go back to law school. The firm picked Adele as one of its four summer students for 2022, during studies at Osgoode Hall Law School, and the articling year was spent there too. A JD followed in 2023 and a call to the Ontario bar in 2024, and that November the firm announced Adele's return as an associate.

Employers can follow Adele's thinking in print and on screen. Adele has written firm insights on Ontario's proposed Bill 105, which would change the province's workers' compensation, health and safety, employment standards and labour relations statutes, and on how the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario treats a vague medical note. Adele has also taken part in the firm's year-in-review webinars for 2024 and 2025, plus an April 2026 session on workplace privacy and shadow AI.

Advocacy came early. As a first-year student at Osgoode, Adele was named a top oralist in the moot, later became the Labour and Employment Law Society's Vice-President, and sat on the executive of the Entertainment and Sports Law Association. Law school also meant pro bono files at both the Durham and Parkdale community legal clinics. Before that came a BA with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, where Adele studied Contemporary Asian Studies, Political Science, and Ethics, Society, and Law.
