About Geetha

Geetha Philipupillai focuses her practice on employment law, civil litigation, and class actions, with a particular interest in using the law to advance social justice for workers. She advises employees facing wrongful or constructive dismissal, workplace discrimination, and accommodation issues, and negotiates employment contracts and severance packages on their behalf. Her class action work includes cases involving hundreds of employees, often centred on unpaid overtime claims, and she regularly acts for labour unions and student unions in civil proceedings. As a member of LawPRO's preferred counsel list, she also defends lawyers facing negligence allegations. Geetha has been involved in several constitutional and public law matters, including Charter challenges related to Toronto's municipal election, student union dues, and DNA retention by the province. She was called to the bar in 2018 after clerking at the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto.
