About Colleen Burn

For three decades, Colleen Burn has stood with injured and disabled people when they're up against an insurance company, and today does that work as a partner at Burn Tucker Lachaîne. The Law Society of Ontario certifies Colleen as a specialist in civil litigation. Colleen is also a Chartered Insurance Professional, holding the CIP designation alongside a law licence.

Most of Colleen's files end in a settlement, reached through careful preparation and negotiation rather than a trial. Court is still familiar ground, though. Colleen has appeared at every level, from the Superior Court and the Federal Court to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Colleen finished law school at Osgoode Hall in 1990, and the call to the Ontario bar came two years later. A long stretch at Doucet McBride LLP began in 1995, with partnership there from 1996 until 2013. Then, in 2014, Colleen started the current firm with Laurie Tucker and Éliane Lachaîne, taking on personal injury clients only. From 2007 to 2009 Colleen also taught at the University of Ottawa as a substitute professor, and Colleen still presents often at continuing legal education programs.

Outside the office, Colleen gives time to brain injury causes and to pro bono legal work, and likes to swim, travel and go canoe camping.
