About Priya Shah

Priya Shah, an associate in Burn Tucker Lachaîne's Ottawa office, takes on personal injury cases and insurance litigation, from car crashes and falls to disability insurance claims. Priya speaks Gujarati fluently and takes pride in serving a diverse range of clients.

Priya first joined Burn Tucker Lachaîne in 2021 as a law clerk, then articled with the firm, and later returned as an associate; the call to the Ontario Bar came in 2024. Early on as a lawyer, Priya was co-counsel at a jury trial that ran four weeks, acting for a plaintiff who'd been injured. Questioning lay and expert witnesses in that complex case shaped Priya as a trial lawyer and strengthened a love of arguing in court.

Within the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Priya is Vice-Chair of the New Lawyers Division, which offers lawyers early in their careers mentorship, networking and practical resources. Priya also writes case summaries for OTLA's newsroom, on decisions such as Certas v. Okenge, where the Divisional Court held that dependency for care under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule calls for a contextual assessment, and Okafor v. Wilson, where late expert reports in a car crash action were refused.

Helping injured people rebuild their lives is work Priya considers a privilege, and Priya is committed to giving clients clear, supportive guidance through litigation. Away from the office, Priya likes experimenting with new recipes, travelling, reading and time with family and friends.
