Employment & Labour LawKory Smith's litigation practice focuses on commercial litigation, construction disputes, and employment law, including construction claims involving deficiencies, delays, payment issues, and conflicts among owners, contractors, and subcontractors. He also advises construction industry clients on contract drafting and negotiations and assists with employment-related disputes. With a doctorate in sociology, Kory brings research, writing, and analytical skills to his practice, and earlier in his career worked on matters involving Indigenous and Aboriginal law in private practice and government settings. He teaches part-time at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, and has served on the boards of the Ticket Defence Program (2019-2022) and, since 2023, HelpAge Canada. He was called to the bar in 2021, earning his J.D. from the University of Ottawa, a Ph.D. from Carleton University, and a B.A. Honours from Carleton University.
