About Karine
Karine Bédard is a bilingual senior associate at Sotos LLP focusing on class actions and complex litigation. They represent plaintiffs in matters touching on institutional abuse, Charter claims, Crown liability, and privacy and product liability issues, alongside breaches of fiduciary duty and other systemic wrongdoing. Karine has argued matters before Ontario courts at every level, Québec's Superior Court, and Canada's highest court, the Supreme Court of Canada. Before joining Sotos, Karine worked at other plaintiff-side class action firms in Toronto, and clerked bilingually for a judge at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, working on civil, criminal, commercial list, and class action files. They have acted as counsel to interveners at the Supreme Court of Canada in cases touching on equality rights and Canadian class actions law. Karine studied law at McGill University, earning both a civil law and common law degree, and won the Justice Harry Batshaw Prize there for top standing in the Foundations of Canadian Law course. They were called to the Ontario bar in 2020.
