Cavina Tsoi advises employers on every area of labour and employment law, working with organizations in a wide mix of industries, public and private alike. Tsoi is an associate at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP in Toronto.

Law wasn't Tsoi's first career. Before law school, Tsoi worked in labour relations at two federally regulated companies in the rail and telecom sectors, and that earlier work built a close understanding of labour relations and of how people interact at work. Tsoi summered and articled in the same Toronto office and was called to the Ontario bar in 2025.

On top of a Queen's JD, Tsoi holds a master's in industrial relations and has a solid grounding in human resource management. Law school was busy: Tsoi worked as a teaching assistant, served as an editor of the Law Review and put together a charity concert. In 2023 Tsoi was an oralist on the Queen's Law team that won the national Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot, beating teams from nine other Canadian law schools, and Tsoi took part in international moots as well.

In 2026 Tsoi wrote about Nexus Solutions Inc v Krougly, an Ontario Court of Appeal ruling that set out when an employer owns software a staff member builds on personal time, and employers with IP questions can contact Tsoi directly. Away from the office, Tsoi likes finding new restaurants and listens to podcasts on all sorts of subjects.
