About Brian
Brian Devlin, KC, has practiced personal injury and medical malpractice law in Alberta for more than four decades. He graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 1976, articled with Jones Black (now Bennett Jones) under Jack Major, KC, and was called to the Alberta bar in June 1977. He went on to co-found O'Brien Devlin Macleod, where his practice concentrated from 1994 onward on clients injured through medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, and assaults, and later practiced with Law Fifty One from 2019 to 2024. Devlin joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP as counsel in 2025. He has been consistently recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for medical negligence and was included in Best Lawyers in Canada from 2006 through 2024, including as Lawyer of the Year for medical negligence in 2014 and 2019 and Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year in southern Alberta in 2010. He co-authored A Practical Guide to Medical Malpractice Litigation, A Plaintiff's Perspective (Carswell, 2011), and was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2016.
