About Ryan
Ryan Liu joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP as an associate in 2026, focusing on medical malpractice and personal injury law. Before joining the firm, he articled and began his legal career at the Department of Justice in Vancouver. Liu was born and raised in Calgary and moved to Vancouver for his Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Philosophy with a minor in English Literature, then attended law school at the University of Victoria, earning his Juris Doctor in 2022. During law school he volunteered with UBC's Law Students' Legal Assistance Program and spent a semester with the University of Victoria's Law Centre providing free legal services to underprivileged clients. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2023 and in Alberta in 2025, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of British Columbia, and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
