About Laura

Laura Comfort joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP upon her admission to the Alberta bar in 2017 and became a partner in 2022. Before law school, she worked as a registered nurse with Alberta Health Services in general medicine and community and mental health, including with children, Indigenous adults, and remanded inmates, experience she draws on when advising clients on the medical issues behind their claims. She holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Kinesiology (2008), a Master of Science in Kinesiology (2009), a Bachelor of Nursing with Distinction (2011), and a Juris Doctor (2016), all from the University of Calgary, and clerked at the Alberta Court of King's Bench before articling with Dentons Canada LLP. Comfort has been recognized among Canada's leading lawyers in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2026 for personal injury litigation. She volunteers with the Alberta Lawyers Assistance Society, the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, and the Canadian Bar Association, and serves as treasurer on the ACTLA board of directors.
