About Benjamin
Ben Piper is a partner based in Ottawa whose practice centers on teachers, firefighters, federal public servants and other public sector workers across Canada. He handles collective agreement interpretation and arbitration, human rights and accommodation issues, workplace injury and benefits matters, and professional discipline files, and represents clients in both English and French. He also litigates on behalf of unions and helps non-union employees navigate terminations and workplace disputes. Ben represented teachers in the successful constitutional challenge to Bill 124, Ontario's pay restraint legislation, a decision upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has also worked on cases involving voter suppression through robocalls and disclosure disputes tied to Indian Residential Schools litigation. Before private practice, he clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada and the Ontario Court of Appeal and later helped design judicial education programs at the National Judicial Institute.
