About Jayme
Jayme Newton joined David Anber's Law Office in 2024 as an associate criminal defence lawyer. She earned her law degree from the University of Ottawa after completing an Honours B.A. in Psychology at the same school, and gained practical experience through the Indigenous Human Rights Legal Clinic and the Kawaskimhon Moot in Victoria, British Columbia. She articled at a defence firm in Ottawa before joining the firm. As a citizen of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi, she previously worked as a Gladue Report Writer for the Cree Nation Government's Department of Justice, and she brings that background to representing Indigenous clients. She belongs to the Ontario Criminal Lawyers Association, the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, and the Indigenous Bar Association.
