Wright Henry LLP is a labour and employment law firm based in Toronto, founded in 2019 by Michael Wright and Tracey Henry. Both had built established careers representing unions, employees and professional associations before starting the firm together, and it's grown since then to eleven lawyers working out of one office at 200 Wellington Street West. The practice covers three connected areas: labour work for trade unions and associations, including organizing, collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations, and pension and benefit matters; employment advice and representation for individual employees, senior executives and professionals; and litigation before courts, labour boards and other tribunals.
Two years after opening, Wright Henry was named to the Globe and Mail's Canada's Best Law Firms list, and Chambers Canada now ranks its Employment & Labour: Labour for Unions practice, with clients quoted there describing the team's counsel as well prepared and its litigation positions as nuanced and well considered. The firm's case list includes acting as co-counsel in Heller v. Uber Technologies Inc., representing steelworkers' locals through the Stelco and Algoma Steel restructurings, and a proposed class action on behalf of Ontario Power Generation retirees over post retirement health benefits.
Wheelchair accessibleWright Henry's only office is Suite 602 at 200 Wellington Street West, in downtown Toronto. From there its lawyers appear before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Canada Industrial Relations Board and the Supreme Court of Canada, and their case list has reached unions and clients well beyond the city itself. It's a single-location practice built to serve labour and employment clients across the province, not a multi-office operation.
