Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP, or HSH, is a Toronto personal injury firm that works with injured people across Ontario, including the Waterloo region. Three lawyers, James Howie, Neil Sacks, and Michael Henry, founded it in 2000, and it began as a five-person practice devoted to injury cases. It's since grown to more than 20 lawyers backed by a support team of over 100. The firm concentrates on serious and catastrophic claims: motor vehicle accidents, brain and spinal cord injuries, medical malpractice and birth injuries, slip and fall claims, long-term and short-term disability, and mass tort and class action litigation. HSH acts for injured plaintiffs, works on a contingency fee basis, and offers free consultations.
The firm is Toronto-based and keeps a consultation office in downtown Kitchener rather than a full staffed branch, so people in Waterloo Region can meet closer to home instead of travelling into the city. HSH says its work comes from results rather than advertising, and notes that it doesn't run ads on television, radio, billboards, or buses. Since 2011, its peers have consistently voted it onto Canadian Lawyer's annual ranking of the top personal injury boutiques in Canada, and in 2025 it was the only plaintiff personal injury firm in Ontario listed in the Insurance section of the Globe and Mail's Canada's Best Law Firms.
