About Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn MacDonell's practice focuses on complex personal injury litigation, long-term and short-term disability claims, accident benefits claims and other insurance litigation. Her own family's experience with a serious brain injury, after her father was diagnosed with one following an assault, drives her advocacy for survivors of brain injury. She regularly appears at trials, administrative hearings and complex motions before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and various tribunals. Kaitlyn has served for ten years on the board of the Brain Injury Association in the Peterborough Region, currently as its president, and sits on the Practice Direction Committee of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, where she helps draft documents that shape policy for accident victims. In 2021 OTLA recognized her with the Martin Wunder, Q.C. Outstanding New Lawyer Award, and she has also served as editor-in-chief of OTLA's Long Term Disability Section newsletter and published articles on court practice.
