About Silvia

Silvia de Sousa is a partner at TDS whose practice is concentrated in business law, with an emphasis on intellectual property, and AI and technology law; she is also a trademark agent. Her practice covers IP transactions and protection, cannabis advertising and marketing, trademarks, copyrights, patents, and licensing matters. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1990 and her LL.B. from the University of Manitoba in 1993, and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1994. Silvia is a seasonal lecturer at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Law and Asper School of Business, a past Chair of the National Intellectual Property Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and has been recognized annually in The Best Lawyers in Canada for Technology Law since 2016. She speaks French and Portuguese, and her services are provided through Silvia de Sousa Law Corporation.
