Seema Shafei

About Seema

Seema Shafei works primarily in labour, employment, and human rights law across both the federal and provincial sectors, focused on addressing power imbalances inherent to the employment relationship. Before her call to the bar, she sat on the bargaining committee of her university local and presented its proposals to the employer, an experience that led her toward advancing the interests of labour unions and workers. She has sought out work addressing systemic inequities, including advocating for workers with disabilities, defending tenants against landlord exploitation, and protecting women who were sexually harassed in the workplace, and has written on tenant and labour union cooperation for the Windsor Yearbook of Access to Justice. Before joining Champ & Associates, Shafei worked at a union-side labour and social justice firm.
