About Caspar

Caspar van Baal has more than 35 years of family law experience. Originally from the Netherlands, he came to Ottawa by way of Saskatchewan and began studying law at the University of Ottawa in 1986. In addition to traditional family law services, he is a trained Collaborative Family Law practitioner and an accredited Family Law Mediator (OAFM). He generally recommends a low-conflict, cooperative approach to resolving family matters such as separations and disputes over custody or parenting, since litigation can be stressful and exhausting, though he represents clients in court when a negotiated agreement isn't possible. He has raised a family in Ottawa and has served on boards and fundraising committees for several local non-profit organizations. He serves clients in English and Dutch.
