About Lydia

Lydia Dobson practices in human rights, administrative law, labour law, and employment law, with experience representing union members before the Federal Public Sector Labour and Employment Relations Board and a particular focus on prisoners' rights. She co-directs the Prison Law Practicum in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa and is an Adjunct Professor with the Institute of Criminology at Carleton University, and is regularly consulted on prisoners' rights issues as a founding member of multiple prisoners' justice organizations. She earned her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2021 and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Carleton University. Before joining Champ & Associates, she articled at a Toronto-based union-side labour and social justice firm and worked as representational staff for one of Canada's largest unions; during law school she was a caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services. Dobson is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Law Society of Nunavut.
