Michael Scherr practices libel, freedom of expression, and media law, along with commercial and estate litigation and workers' compensation matters, and has practiced law in Victoria for more than 25 years. He successfully defended free expression in Andrew Weaver v. Tim Ball, established limits on commercial lease renewals in 1111207 BC Ltd. v. Masala Bites Enterprises Ltd., and obtained significant damages for a wrongfully dismissed employee in Polard v. ARO. He has appeared before provincial and superior courts in British Columbia, the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court, courts in Michigan, and labour, human rights, and workers' compensation tribunals across multiple provinces. He continues to assist injured workers with Workers' Compensation Board matters and represents clients in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement discussions.
