About Michael

Michael Blades focuses his litigation practice on construction law and construction disputes, along with insurance, product liability, professional negligence, municipal law, and regulatory matters. He assists clients with drafting, negotiating, and reviewing construction industry contracts, and routinely represents parties in builders' lien actions, delay claims, and complex commercial disputes. His trial experience spans jury and judge-alone matters at all levels of court in Nova Scotia, including the Court of Appeal, and before administrative boards such as the Residential Tenancies Board and the Utility and Review Board. He also represents clients in mediation and arbitration, particularly in construction-related disputes. Michael is a fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Advocates' Society, and has taught Construction Law and Civil Procedure at Dalhousie's Schulich School of Law. He was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2011 and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for corporate and commercial litigation.
