About Matthew

Matthew Abbott is a partner at Paul, Weiss, serving as Vice Chair of the Firm, Global Co-Chair of the M&A practice, and a member of the Executive Committee, based in New York. His work focuses on advising strategic buyers and private equity sponsors on transactions that include public and private acquisitions, corporate divestitures, joint ventures and carve-outs. His client roster has included Agrium, Birch Hill Equity Partners, Brookfield, Citigroup and General Atlantic on some of their major deals. Matthew earned his JD from the University of Toronto in 1998 and his BA with first class honours from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1995. He is admitted to practise law in New York.
