About Matthew

Matthew Cleary grew up in Victoria, BC, and studied broadly at the University of Victoria before focusing on anthropology, with an emphasis on cultural studies and ethnography. Law school sparked his interest in tort law, and since being called to the BC bar in 2009 he has devoted his career to representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters. He's known for a compassionate, client-focused approach and for advocating strongly on behalf of people facing serious injuries. Before practicing law, he traveled extensively through Central and South America and Southeast Asia, experiences that shaped his appreciation for different cultures. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from UVic and an LL.B. from UBC.
