About Mary

Mary McMillan is Counsel at Sprigings Intellectual Property Law and has practiced exclusively in intellectual property throughout her career. Her work centers on patent matters in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and chemical fields, particularly litigation support and infringement and validity opinions arising under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) regime. She also handles patent drafting and prosecution as well as freedom-to-operate analysis. Mary holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, and an LL.B., all from the University of Ottawa, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1994. Her recent files include patent impeachment litigation over the biologic drug infliximab and Patented Medicines Notice of Compliance applications involving fenofibrate.
