About Liam

Liam McGuigan's primary areas include human rights, trusts, lands, and corporate governance, with specific practice areas covering additions to reserve, corporate and commercial law, employment and human rights, Indigenous legal orders and law, land interests, and trusts. He views law as a tool that can help remedy the historic and continuing injustices faced by Indigenous people and seeks to create spaces where Indigenous communities and legal traditions can flourish. Before joining the firm, he worked as a researcher at the Indigenous Law Research Unit and as a legal research assistant for Professor Sarah Morales, conducting primary research on Hul'qumi'num law. He earned a BA in philosophy and English at university in Victoria and received the President's Scholarship for his Juris Doctor degree, along with the David Strong Leadership in Legal Studies Award, the Law Foundation of BC Public Interest Award, and the Rocky Raccoon Award during law school. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in September 2021, and is also licensed in Yukon (2023) and the Northwest Territories (2024).
