About Alexis
Alexis Giannelia specializes in Aboriginal rights and title litigation, developing solutions to problems facing Indigenous peoples. Her recent work includes the Quw'utsun Nation's legal victory recognizing title at Tl'uqtinus village lands and an Aboriginal right to fish. She served as judicial law clerk to Justice John B. Laskin at the Federal Court of Appeal (2019-2020) and at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (2018-2019), and previously worked at an Aboriginal law litigation firm in Toronto and as a Debwewin Summer Law Student Intern with the Six Nations of the Grand River Justice Program. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in international development studies and psychology from McGill University, graduating with first class honours in 2015, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto in 2018 with a certificate in Aboriginal Legal Studies. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (2020) and the Law Society of the Northwest Territories (2023).
