About Alex

Alex McLean practices Aboriginal and treaty rights, Aboriginal title, consultation and accommodation, governance support, Indigenous legal orders, and specific claims. He completed a JD through the University of Victoria's joint JD/JID program in Canadian common law and Indigenous legal orders, and holds a BA in economics and philosophy from the University of British Columbia. Before joining as a lawyer in 2025, he was a summer student in 2023 and an articling student in 2024, and worked as a summer researcher at the British Columbia Law Institute on UNDRIP alignment and at an environmental nonprofit. He also volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Law Students' Legal Advice Program. Originally from Vancouver and of Chinese and Scottish descent, he was called to the Law Society of British Columbia in 2025.
