Joel Morales is an associate in OKT's Toronto office and a member of Cowichan Tribes First Nation on Vancouver Island. He attended the University of Ottawa for law school, where he took part in the Kawaskimhon Moot, and completed Osgoode Hall's Intensive Program on Lands, Resources, and Governance, including a placement with the Maya Leaders Alliance in Belize. He articled at a Toronto legal aid clinic serving the city's Indigenous community. His practice focuses on advising First Nations and Indigenous organizations on governance and employment matters, human rights issues, and child welfare jurisdiction. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and is a member of the bar in both Ontario and the Northwest Territories.
