About Ashley

Ashley Ash is an associate at OKT. She studied social work at Toronto Metropolitan University before earning her law degree at the University of Windsor and being called to the Ontario Bar. Ashley joined the firm after completing her articles as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, where she assisted judges handling family, civil, and criminal files. Her practice now centers on child welfare, negotiation, and litigation, and she represents First Nations communities as they assert authority over their children, youth, and families' well-being. Drawing on both her social work training and her own lived experience growing up in care, Ashley works to uphold her clients' rights within a child welfare system she recognizes as often at odds with First Nations values and traditions. She has also worked with the Office of the Children's Lawyer, as well as the former Ontario Child Advocate, and the group Justice for Children and Youth, and served as a teaching assistant for the Indigenous Legal Orders course at Windsor Law.
