About Jeffery

Jeffery Callaghan has a commercial practice focused on real property, business, energy and natural resources, and Aboriginal law and Indigenous peoples, handling business purchases and sales, commercial financings and contract negotiations. He advises clients on regulatory obligations, including environmental considerations, in the aquaculture, agriculture, forestry and energy sectors, and has appeared before the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board. Jeffery has a particular focus on Aboriginal consultation and engagement and advises Indigenous communities and developers on economic development on reserve lands; his work on Indigenous fishing rights was included in the book Contested Waters. He is a founding and current co-chair of the Aboriginal Law section of the Canadian Bar Association's New Brunswick branch and serves as student Recruitment Chair for McInnes Cooper's Fredericton office. He earned his LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 2010 and was called to the New Brunswick bar in 2011.
