About James
James is a Partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office who leads the firm's Nova Scotia Energy and Natural Resources Group, focusing on corporate and regulatory law. He has extensive regulatory experience in general rate applications, cost of service studies, rate design and capital expenditure applications, and has appeared before the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board, the PEI Regulatory and Appeals Commission and Newfoundland and Labrador's Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities. From 2010 to 2022 he was part-time faculty at the Schulich School of Law, teaching Energy Law. James holds a B.C.L. from Oxford University, an LL.B. from Dalhousie University, and a B.Comm. and B.A. from Queen's University.
