About Eli

Eli Monas is a partner at Torys focusing on corporate law and regulatory matters affecting financial institutions. He advises Canadian and international financial institution clients on significant, high-profile mergers and acquisitions, as well as on the complex regulatory needs of their businesses. In 2017-18, he completed a six-month secondment within the Legislation and Approvals Division at Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. That secondment deepened his knowledge of bank and insurance regulation, along with consumer protection and payments matters. He also serves as co-editor for the National Banking Law Review and has co-authored Carswell's Consolidated Bank Act.
