Indigenous LawRoger Townshend, a founding partner of OKT, now serves as senior counsel to the firm, advising colleagues on legal strategy and participating in teams pursuing First Nations' Aboriginal title and rights claims. He has practised constitutional, human rights, and administrative law but has focused in recent years on advising and litigating land claims, most recently acting as lead counsel in the Saugeen Ojibway Nation cases claiming Aboriginal title to Great Lakes water spaces. He has appeared in courts across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and before his legal career spent eight years on land claims research and negotiations for Manitoba First Nations. Roger has been selected annually for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in Aboriginal law, and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1993.
