About Harvey

Harvey is Counsel in the Halifax office and a member of the firm's Business Dispute Resolution Group. His litigation practice concentrates on indigenous and construction law matters as well as complex commercial and toxic tort cases, and he has appeared before all levels of court in Nova Scotia and the Supreme Court of Canada. His notable cases include Palmer v. Nova Scotia Forest Industries, Sprayers of Dioxin Association v. NB Power, Mitsui v. Jones Power, and R v. Marshall and R v. Sappier on indigenous logging rights. He has also negotiated large construction and wind turbine supply contracts and has published on conflict of laws, evidence and conflicts of interest in the Canadian Bar Review and other publications. Harvey holds an LL.B. from Dalhousie University, was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1979 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2003. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, an International Associate of the American Bar Association, and chairs the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Society.
