About Geoffrey

Geoffrey Spencer, KC, leads the firm's St. John's office and counsels clients on financial services and restructuring matters. He regularly represents secured lenders, trustees and receivers in commercial insolvencies and related litigation, and brings significant experience to commercial fishery work, including the purchase, sale and financing of fishing enterprises. His courtroom experience covers all levels of court in Newfoundland and Labrador, along with the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University, and was called to the Newfoundland and Labrador bar in 1994. He was appointed King's Counsel in January 2025.
