About Stephen

Stephen Penney practises employer-side labour and employment law and civil litigation, with particular focus on municipal law, professional negligence and commercial disputes. He has appeared at all levels of court in Canada, including three matters before the Supreme Court of Canada, among them a leading case on judicial review of arbitration awards. He represents employers in the offshore oil and gas industry on labour arbitrations, labour board hearings and judicial reviews, and has completed offshore safety training. His municipal practice includes cases on environmental class actions, the scope of municipal powers, a disputed municipal election and constructive expropriation. Penney earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1997 and his B.A. from Queen's University in 1994.
