About Behzad

Behzad Akhkend is an associate at Ryder Wright and a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School. He joined the firm in 2022 after articling with another union-side labour firm. During law school he worked as a caseworker in the Workers' Rights division at Parkdale Community Legal Services, representing workers before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Ministry of Labour, and Small Claims Court. Before law school, Behzad completed a Master of Arts and a postgraduate degree in political science focused on Canadian immigration and refugee policy. He is involved with the Workers' Action Centre, the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, and the International Alliance in Support of Working People in Iran, and speaks Kurdish, Farsi, and Turkish.
