About Brian
Brian Nichols is senior counsel at Beitel Tax Law LLP, where he advises on income tax disputes, tax and estate planning, family business succession, shareholder disputes and corporate reorganizations. LawPRO, the mandatory malpractice insurer for Ontario lawyers, often retains him to fix tax problems arising from other lawyers' advice, and his work has been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada. He sits on the program committee for the Canadian Tax Foundation's Ontario Tax Conference and writes frequently for groups like STEP Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. Before joining the firm he chaired a tax group at a mid-size firm and worked at two national firms. He holds a law degree and a science degree from the University of Toronto and was called to the bar in 1976.
