Allan L. Lipman co-founded LZW's predecessor firm in 1976 alongside partners Myles Waxman and William Zener and continues to practise law full time more than four decades later. His work centres on restructurings, partnership and shareholder disputes, and mergers and acquisitions, and his clients include chartered banks, non-bank commercial lenders, licensed Trustees in Bankruptcy and Receivers. Allan has deep experience in commercial secured transactions and bankruptcy and insolvency matters, representing institutional lenders recovering impaired loans and helping debtors restructure their banking relationships. He lectures on the Personal Property Security Act, the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and commercial loan restructurings, and has mentored many of the firm's current lawyers since their articling days. He was called to the bar in 1975, holds a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School (1981), an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario (1973) and a BA from the University of Toronto (1970).
